Location

The famous garden architect Peter Lennée designed the so called Luisenstädtischer Kanal, which connected the canal Landwehrkanal with the river Spree. Nowadays it is a green oasis in the heart of Kreuzberg and one the most attractive places. In winter people meet for ice skating at Engelbecken, in summer the young and international inhabitants meet at the canal in Böcklerpark or at the bridge Admiralbrücke. This is also the perfect starting point for an evening in the well-known O-Straße (Oranienstraße) with many bars and restaurants and scene shops. The Berlin wall went along the northern part of this green belt with many zick zack moves. Vis-à-vis to the old wall stripe there is located one of Berlins most traditional restaurants "Die Henne" (Chicken). The proximity to Friedrichshain and Berlin- Mitte just across the river makes this quartier even more interesting. It is very central and well connected. The underground at Moritzplatz or Kottbusser Tor is very close.
